A dark cloud rolled in, and a dark wind blew. No one could remember, until our faces turned blue. It's the true cost of easy livin'. Some have no choice but to give in.
A smoke stack rumbled, and the factory wheel whined. Our lives for these trifles but no one seemed to mind it's the true cost of easy livin. some have no choice but to give in.

So my childhood's gone I'll play no more, we gave our children to the factory floor. Innocence lost, fed to the dogs, we turned those children into factory cogs.

Those little bellies turnin, like coal for the burnin. Our lives for these trifles, yet what are we earning? The true cost of easy living. some have no choice but to give in.

So it's out of sight, out of mind. Out of breath and out of time. tiny hands worked to the bone, on the factory floor weaving cotton and wool. This ain't no story, this ain't no fable. They're upon your backs and upon your table. Easy living comes easy to some but the truth can be hard to swallow. Some are born on the wrong side of the line. There in their misery wallow.
