werederg I remember when I first discovered Holy Locust, seeing a live performance that I was having trouble seeing over the heads of Bridge City Sinners lmao! But I have been in love with this album ever since I heard it. My homie has it on in his car constantly. The music is so rich and textured and beautiful, I'll never get over how amazing it is! Truly a masterpiece! Favorite track: Pigs In A Blanket.

Bart Some of the best folk punk to come out in the last few years. There is an emotional edge to their songs that I really like. Great live band too. Favorite track: Tangled In Ropes.

Prophets Hang In the throws of a fever dream The shell of a vagrant dog Signs were shown and blood turned to stone All the days were written on the wall A crow in a rusty cage Seven fathers fell from her breast One for the way we would bring the final day And six for the kings to make it so Old world departed gone and past Light in your eyes is fading fast Thought you awoke from a fever dream And now you walk upon the dead A thorn in a black elk eye A chalice that held the sky The water did spoil now destined to toil Its ringing like a broken bell Ten thousand death head wings On the walls of an old stone church Cauterize the seers eyes when the vision came to pass Now all you hears a deathbed gasp Old world departed gone and past Light in your eyes is fading fast Thought you awoke from fever dream And now you walk upon the dead

Heir To Woe 03:55
Heir to woe Blue heavens blue heavens why do you grey? Found a rope in the tree and a crown in the hay Wolves they call they follow me home There´s a knife in my hand but Im still throwing stones Stones that I,m throwing they turn into maggots Am I running from beasts or just from bad habits Like the turn of the wheel. Like the cold of the steel Ain,t no use for the crying in the den of the lion King of fool scepter and crown Sat on his throne like a god looking down Full of holes he still seems to float Weighted by lead that was tied to his throat Hands of glass see through and clear Cannot be seen by the ones he holds dear Heir to woe with a burden to hold Now goes hungry for seeds sold for gold Cigarette filters made up his sheets Try as he might he could not find sleep Soul was taken tied to a mast Left there for judgment wind for to cast

Aedes Egypti When the fever broke our tired bones its a heavy burden to bear but we know its the way that the world turns Its hungry ghost singing lullaby’s left paralyzed call it starvation or monetary warfare The sound heard from the bell tower surely it was not the stroke of nine if the gods have all turned their backs on us well answer our own prayers this time To the whipping post we will not go it’s a heavy burden to bear but we know it’s the way that the world turns that shits bananas a parasite drinking pesticides all desiccated in the sun
4.
Pigs in a blanket No borders no nations we'll tear down their fences and walls burn down the prisons and malls and well all rejoice put the pigs in a blanket in a blanket and bury it deep and well take back this world that they keep could we Justify We threw it down the well dead we threw it down the well dead and laughed we painted sigils with the ashes that we might never forget sin fronteras ni puercos todos abajo la mismo luz de la luna no hay interesa no queremos para la manana

Houses of fire Woven hands bending and breaking. Aint no roads lead to home Light a fire for the gods we´re forsaking. We lick marrow from bone. Noctivigant spiers and blind folded buyers. Cities built on the sand Death dealing liars eternal forge pyres. Black seeds sown in this land. Broken giants coughing and gasping. Build up walls with their bones. Kill the witch for the curses she’s casting. Beneath the eyes of god we cast stones. Snake charming father, salt pillar mother. Workers marching in crowds Strip the flesh leave the scraps for another. Sinners hanging from clouds. Soldiers build houses of fire. Holy arrows fell down We all lied down there. Sleeping with snakes. Wondering will we wake up. Wake up where we lied our heads. When spring is over and the old gods retire, soldiers burn bodies, build houses of fire. When all we are is ghosts out in the corn, Fifteen thousand golden horns sounding from the coming storm When fall is over and the old gods shed their skin, I’ll tear down this house of fire and build it up again.

Tangled in Ropes Tangled in ropes, pulled into the shore. You washed up all heavy, tired and poor. Had a life made of wax, house made of butter they melted that summer, How they melted that summer When winter came early and the ocean froze over, You threw your belongings onto your shoulder. Stole a pair of boots that could handle the cold. Went out into the frozen unknown. When the tide rolled out and all was exposed, You found yourself drowning in truths untold Used a sand dollar to buy a bus ticket home Though a hundred degree heat you felt so cold.
7.
Whooping cough So its pennies on the dollar at the bottom of a wishing well The histories of scholars and the pages full of stories they tell now pissing curses the wind as she yells Those ghosts are easy to find we left the bodies behind now all the waters on fire strangled with a telegraph wire No one can remember that we buried the bones beneath the strip malls and suburban homes now spitting curses even the stones
8.
Holy Diggers Hole I have come to know the weight of woe in the holy diggers hole I have come to sew the seeds he left when he did go. I have come from down that lonesome road with cold black water rain I have come to sing the songs we heard trapped within the grain Every child turns to stone in the sun And the pigs all meet their makers at the sound of their own drum I have come to you with weary feet broken from the road I have come only to leave again for my soul I have sold I have come with wrenched for the cogs of the all consuming beast I have come here with a great vengeance to say the very least You can take my hands and chain my feet to flame Others like me soon will come again They have come to steal the fire from our eyes But when the road grows cold we’ll still know which way to go Spitting curses from deep within the hole I have come to know the sound of spring sung through winter’s frost I have come out of the dark to seek and to be sought I have come with water for to grow new life on an ancient word It lied for four hundred years a whisper never heard You can steal the veins from mighty mountain tops Dig dig down until the spinning of the world stops I have come to be the gallows weight, lone shadow in the sand I have come across four hundred ghosts trapped within the land I have come with curses for the king and all his golden guns I have come here in the shadow of a thousand suns The floodgates fail and a burning ship set sail The hands of time all wave to wish them well. They have come to usurp the gold and green When the light grows old it will shine seven fold Spitting curses from deep within the hole.

Biting Our Wings Black cloud forms around my brain. (Hold to the banks).(The rushing of tides) No gods left they've gone insane. (Fighting for air)(Choking on lies) Where will we be when it all turns to rust. (Burn all the banks)(set them on fire) Fall in line, with the dust. (Gather the thieves)(To throw on the pyre) Now we won't taste the salt of the sea. Another the fruit of the tree. The sulfur of empire guns, in the air like the light of the sun. Sunrise won't save us, did he know when he made us that we'd all end up this way. So we're biting our tongues at the face of our guns. Our legs are not chained but how long? Black cloud forms around this land. (Hold to the banks)(The rushing of tides) Heaven sent his darkest hand. (Fighting for air)(Choking on lies) So where will we go when the rivers run low. (Burn all the banks)(set them on fire) Blind my eyes as the blood starts to flow. (Gather the thieves)(To throw on the pyre) Now we won't taste the salt of the sea. Another the fruit of the tree. The sulfur of empire guns, in the air like the light of the sun Falling from grace like bird giving chase to a river stone. Now we're biting our wings as we turn into things we never thought we could be. Who's that knocking, who's that knocking on the door? They broke the windows out, left the pieces on the floor. Where we're going, where we are and where we'll be Is all relative to the level of the sea.
